Matt: appreciate your thoughtful take as usual. I do think this is an inflection point for Marvel. The only thing I do want to bring up is that Love and Thunder, Multiverse of Madness, and Wakanda Forever came out one year ago and (despite not being very good) all of those movies were massive hits. Like huge. So I think it’s just worth noting the context that this phenomenon of marvel films not doing well is EXTREMELY recent

For sure. But even in terms of recent hits, they seemed more ephemeral than other Marvel movies. Like for all the box office success of Love and Thunder, there's probably not much excitement for a fifth Thor movie or to have Waititi come back, which is a pretty big change following the enthusiasm after Ragnarok.

I agree Marvel Phase 4 was dogshit with Antman 3, Thor 4 and Black Panther 2 that was way too long and if we get sequels to those, they need to go with different directors and writers, but Marvel isn't going anywhere. They just went with a terrible script on The Marvels and Captain Marvel who's like a female Superman, is a pretty dull character to comic nerds.

If this is the beginning of the end for super hero dominance at the multiplex, I welcome what comes next.
